Type, it surrounds us just as much as color. It is how we communicate. Type is it’s own language. It goes all the way back to the caveman era. Are you a san serif, serif, slab serif, or script style person? What is your eye drawn more to. In digital settings our eyes prefer to read san serif fonts like Franklin Gothic, Helvetica, or Futura to name a few. When we look at things in print we prefer serif for large amounts of text as it is less strain on our eye. Different categories of typefaces exist and have come about for different purposes as time has evolved with typography.

We’ve all seen the I ♥ NY logo, but have you ever heard the story behind it. A man named Milton Glaser is behind the design. I ran across the backstory a while back. I love finding out deeper concept meanings to things that are so simply done in the design world. Less is more, is the saying and it is true.  This design has lasted so many years and become an symbol for the state. check out the video here.
